Be a part of the first thesis jury of a school: NSU Architecture Week 2009

North South University Architecgure Week 2009, Dhaka, BangladeshThe fist jury of the graduating students is undoubtedly a grand event for any new architecture school. And this time the North South University is going to add some fresh new architects in the community after the first thesis jury of the school. They are also arranging a grand Architecture Week during the event comprises design charette, lectures, exhibition and drama theatre. School's Assistant Professor Mujtaba Ahsan sent us a press release that explains the details of the events:

"The thesis jury of the first batch of architecture students from the North South University, Department of Architecture will be held on the 17th and 18th of October 2009 starting from 10:30 am. On this occassion, the department is also celebrating Architecture Week 2009. Important events include: Visit and Lecture by renowned Malaysian Architect Dr. Tan Loke Mun, Past President of the Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM), Member GBIAP and Director ArchiCentre Sdn. Bhd. A student design competition (Charette) will be held on Monday, October 19th, registration beginning from 9:30 am and a Heritage Tour of Old Dhaka would be held on the same day. The concluding ceremony would be held on Thursday 22nd October at 5:00 pm, featuring a cultural program and an open stage drama - CIRCUS by PrachchaNat. The department would also host a students' project exhibition showcasing notable last semester design studio projects. The exhibiton will remain open for everyone from the 17th to the 22nd from 10 am  to 4 pm."

Tradewell Fellowship in Healthcare Architecture

Tradewell Fellowship: handsWHR Architects offer a great opportunity to work and learn about healthcare architecture. Their ‘Tradewell Fellowship’ begins and ends in July and includes employment at WHR Architects in Houston. Each year, the Tradewell Fellow is involved with clients in early master planning and design with a particular focus on healing environments and collaborative design methods in healthcare related projects.
So those who are interested and enthusiastic about hospital and health facilities design should try for this grand opportunity.

One Design Fix for the Future: Next Generation Design Competition 2010

Next Generatoin Design Competition 2010 MetropolismagOften one small idea leads to mould-breaking solutions in design problems. And the creative brains are never idle, they are always producing amazing 'fix' by design to many problems craving for solutions. Its time to put those ideas on drawing tables.
Like last couple of years Metropolismag has been declared the 2010 Next Generation Design Competition. They call for 'One Design Fix for the Future' to architects, interior, product, landscape, graphics designers. The 'design fix' you can make now in your designed environment like the products you use, your home, workplace, city or any commercial application that has the power to improve our future more or less.

A 'business idea' is also supposed to be submitted along with the design idea. Submission and registration is online.

Eligibility: Competition is open to all architects, interior designers, landscape designers, urban designers, graphics designers, product designers and students who are not in practice more than 10 years. None professionals can also participate.
Deadline: January 29, 2010
Registration Fees: 75 USD for each submission (maximum 3 submissions per participant or group is allowed)
Award: 10,000 USD + Publication in Metropolismag
